The Infiltrators, which had its first screening at the Sundance Film Festival, is a docu-thriller that tells the true story of young immigrants who are detained by Border Patrol and thrown into a shadowy for-profit detention center— on purpose. The film follows true events that occurred back in 2012 when a group of radical DREAMers who are on a mission to stop unjust deportations activists gained access to one of the detention centers. The Infiltrators is a combination of regular documentary form and scripted narrative in which certain scenes were reconstructed in the form of a narrative, in addition to the uses of materials and archival footage. You can read the interview with the directors Cristina Ibarra and Alex Rivera here.

* The Infiltrators opens on May 1
